LEONARDO Helicopters

Leonardo’s Helicopter Division performs research, design, development, production, customer support and marketing of the company’s extensive range of modern helicopters for commercial, public service, security and defence applications. The Helicopter Division manages the entire helicopter development and production cycle. Manufacturing facilities, concentrated in Italy, UK, Poland and USA, are fully integrated and are organised around ‘centres of excellence’ that support the final assembly lines. Current production covers all the main helicopter weight categories, from the 1.8 tonne single-engine SW-4 to the 16 tonne three engine AW101. Other products include the fast and flexible AW119Kx single engine, the AW109 Trekker and the AW109 GrandNew light-twins, the brand new AW169 twin engine, the multi-role AW159, the bestselling AW139 intermediate twin, the AW149 medium twin, the latest generation AW189 and the NH90. All the helicopters are dual use (commercial and military) platforms except specific military AW159, AW101 and NH-90. The AW139M, military version of the AW139, combining state-of-the-art technology, unmatched performance and unrivalled safety, is the best solution in the most challenging conditions, all over the world. The Helicopter Division provides customers with efficient logistics and maintenance support in order to increase operational availability of their helicopters while reducing through life costs. This means offering commercial and military customers optimised aftersales support and training solutions tailored to their specific needs. Leonardo Helicopters is also committed to the study and introduction into the market of innovative technologies and platforms, including the AW609 TiltRotor and the remotely controlled/optionally piloted rotorcraft. In addition to its own research and development activities, the Division is actively involved in many collaborative research programmes with major European aerospace companies.

LIAZ a.s. is currently engaged in the development and production of unmanned helicopters. This is a new line of business as a continuation of the long tradition of LIAZ truck production. The company was founded in 1951 and later on, having already 10 manufacturing plants with 11,000 employees, was producing up to 13,600 trucks a year. LIAZ a.s. is not just a supplier of unmanned helicopter complexes. The company also offers specialized systems and other specific services (including a whole range of payload systems and software) as well as technical tools associated with the use of a helicopter (SkySpotter 150 B and SkySpotter 150 C simplified specialty versions). Extensive technical and manufacturing experience enables the LIAZ team to introduce innovative technical features during the R&D phase and implement ambitious concepts. With the SkySpotter 150 complex, the customers receive a ready-made solution tailored to their own specific needs.

The Logistics Agency is the expert authority subordinated to Director of the Division of Support. It is responsible for a comprehensive logistic support of ministerial events and military missions and operations on the Czech territory and abroad. The Agency supports allied armed forces on the territory of the Czech Republic in accordance with the Host National Support. The Agency provides management, planning, and coordination of military transports and movements of Czech and allied forces on the Czech territory. In relation to NATO, it is the National Transport Coordination Centre.

THE PRODUCTION HISTORY OF ČZ STRAKONICE FIREARMS In September, 1919 the first factories were built under the name The South Bohemian Armory in Strakonice in the south of the Czech Republic. They took over the production of the Firearms. This merger resulted in the new trademark ČZ (in a circle). Pre-World War II The majority of products were for military and professional forces. Realizing the growing danger of war in the 1936s, and considering that Strakonice was about an hour drive from the Austrian and German borders, the company relocated in Uherský Brod in the eastern part of the country. World War II During World War II firearms manufacturing continued but the production range consisted of firearms designed and made in German armories. Post-World War II Production include some of the following In 1954 the entire firearms production was, for safety, moved to the branch plant in Uherský Brod. Because of political and economic changes in 1989 in the Czech Republic the plant in Uherký Brod became independent. They continued to use the original trademark until 1992 when they registered their own - ČZ UB. Modern ČZ Stakonice History When ČZ Strakonice production resumed in the first half of 1990 the company was divided into several divisions and firearms were allocated to ČZ Strojirna Ltd. ČZ Strojirna Ltd. produced 50,000 M6 for the U.S. Army Between 1993 to 2001. LUVO Prague Ltd. (LUVO FIREARMS) LUVO Prague Ltd. (LUVO Firearms) took over firearms production from ČZ Strojirna Ltd. in 2006. The company continues to use the trademark ČZ (in a circle) and produced Pistols, Assault Rifles, Semi-automatic Snipers, Semi-automatic Rifles and Grenade launchers. The company goal is to produce quality firearms for military, police, special forces and civilians markets worldwide.
