The Centre for Knowledge and Technology Transfer (CPPT) is an independent part of the Charles University that provides services and information in support of knowledge and technology transfer and creates opportunities and the environment for their spreading in agreement with fulfillment of the third role of the university with the objective to increase its competitiveness and attractiveness for students, employees and general public. The Centre is developing an innovation network of at the Charles University by interconnecting members of the academic community across all its faculties and organizational units. It is also developing the network through cooperation with innovative organizations outside the Charles University, intermediation of knowledge, experience, services, information and funds. For potential partners it serves as a gateway, guide and mediator.

The inauguration of a faculty focused on Applied Sciences as an independent element of Tomas Bata University in Zlín is the logical result of the University´s efforts to succeed in the Information Technology field. The Faculty of Applied Informatics (FAI) was established on 01.01.2006 through the transformation of the existing Institute for Process Control and Applied Informatics (IRPI) at the Faculty of Technology which, in turn, had been founded in the first half of 2004, and came into being through the restructuring of the Institute of Information Technology. The foundations of the latter institution was the Institute (formerly Department) of Automation and Control Technology, which had existed for more than 14 years at the Faculty of Technology at the time (The Department of Automation was established on 01.09.1986). Research activities of department of security engineering: • Security theory, • Physical security and property protection, • Commercial security technology, • Alarm systems (alarm security systems, access control systems, CCTV, Fire Alarm) • Information technology to support crisis management, • Detective work and professional defense, • Protection and resilience of critical infrastructure, • Modelling of crisis situations. The Faculty of Logistics and Crisis Management (FLCM) of Tomas Bata University in Zlín was established on 1 September 2009 and is its youngest faculty. It builds on the educational and research activities of the Institute of Security Technologies in Uherské Hradiště, which belonged to the Faculty of Technology. FLCM currently offers studies in the following accredited bachelor's degree programmes: Study Programme of Process Engineering, Risk Management (also combined form of study), Study programme of Population Protection, Population Protection (also in combined form of study) and study programme Security of the Society, Environmental Risk Management, and from the academic year 2016/2017 students can also study in the follow-up Master's degree programme Security of the Society. In its research and development activities, the FLCM focuses on logistics, logistics and crisis management, issues of population protection, emergency management, crisis management and planning, risk analysis and assessment, and environmental safety. The aim of the faculty is to continuously improve the teaching of study programmes and fields so that its graduates are as competitive as possible on the labor market.
