On 15 May 2025, the Police Academy of the Czech Republic in Prague hosted the SCADA Security Conference, held as part of the Future Forces Forum. The event was attended by over 130 registered participants from the Czech Republic and Slovakia, including representatives of public institutions, critical infrastructure operators, academia, industry, and cybersecurity professionals.
The SCADA Security Conference focuses on the security of industrial control systems (ICS), operational technologies (OT), and SCADA environments, particularly in the context of current and emerging cyber threats, legislation, and technologies. The event aims to create a platform for expert discussions, knowledge sharing, and building cooperation between key stakeholders in the field.
The programme included a rich mix of expert presentations, panel discussions, and workshops, covering the following areas:
A highlight of the programme was the roundtable discussion on "People Protection through Modern SCADA/ICS Systems and Cybersecurity Research", organized under the auspices of NCISA. It brought together representatives from the Ministry of the Interior, Fire Rescue Service, academia, and the private sector to discuss the human dimension of ICS/SCADA cybersecurity and its role in protecting vital infrastructure.
The conference also addressed the legal and regulatory aspects of ICS cybersecurity, including liability for damages caused by cyber incidents, protection of operational data, and the interplay between cybersecurity and privacy.
An engaging programme, combined with intensive networking opportunities during breaks, created a unique environment for exchanging insights and establishing new collaborations. The SCADA Security Conference once again confirmed that cybersecurity in industrial systems is a multidisciplinary field, where technology, law, policy, and education must go hand in hand.
